Ta opowieść o obecności (i nieobecności) Żydów w Wieliczce, o ich relacjach z miastem, jego chrześcijańskimi mieszkańcami, kopalnią, a także ze sobą nawzajem, rozpoczynająca się w XIV, a kończąca w XX wieku, z całą pewnością nie jest opowieścią kompletną. Być może przestrzeń pomiędzy przedstawionymi faktami wypełniały ważniejsze wydarzenia, na których ślad nie trafiłam, i być może ktoś w przyszłości wypełni te luki.

This narrative, which is most certainly incomplete, begins in the fourteenth century and ends in the twentieth. It tells of the presence (and absence) of Jews in Wieliczka, of their relationships and connections with the town, with its Christian inhabitants, with the salt mine, and also with each other. Perhaps events of greater import, whose traces I did not discern, occurred in the spaces between the facts presented here, and perhaps someone will fill those lacunae at a future date.
